Proudly Supporting SARDA Wales

Because rescue, recovery, and guidance is what we both do best.

Why SARDA Wales?

When we chose a charity partner, we wanted more than a worthy cause — we wanted an organisation whose values genuinely reflect our own. The Search and Rescue Dog Association Wales is exactly that. We’re proud to call Wales home, and supporting our local community has always mattered to us. SARDA’s volunteers come from across Wales, giving their time and expertise to help people in the mountains and rural areas we all share.

Their work reflects the values we hold at de Novo: teamwork, commitment, expertise, and service. Whether it’s finding vulnerable people in difficult conditions or helping organisations navigate complex technology challenges, both organisations rely on skilled people working together under pressure to solve problems that matter.

We’re proud to support SARDA and the care, dedication, and compassion they bring to communities across Wales.

What They Do

Search and Rescue Dog Association Wales trains volunteer handlers and their dogs to help find missing people across Wales’ mountains and countryside. They operate 24/7, 365 days a year, responding to police callouts — often in the middle of the night, in severe weather, and across challenging terrain.

These are not paid professionals. They are volunteers who dedicate years to training, leave everything behind when the call comes, and ask for nothing in return. They do it because someone needs help, and they are able to provide it.

SARDA Wales receives no government funding. Every penny comes from donations and the support of people who believe in the value of their work.

Meet Our Ambassadors

Farley, an open-area search dog in training with SARDA Wales, running on the hills

Farley’s Story

Farley is an open-area search dog in training with SARDA Wales. He’s full of enthusiasm and absolutely loves the challenge of finding people. He’s at his happiest out on the hills with his younger brother, Frodesley, by his side.

When he’s not working with his ball, Farley enjoys cooling off in a mountain stream or pool. He brings energy and joy to every training session, although he has a few strong opinions; smoked salmon is definitely off the menu, and bath time is not his favourite. As he continues his training, Farley is developing the skills and focus needed to help locate missing and vulnerable people across Wales.

Barney, a search dog in novice training with SARDA Wales

Barney’s Story

Barney is a six-year-old search dog in novice training with SARDA Wales, handled by John Mawer. He loves exploring the Welsh mountains, searching for people, and playing ball.

He made a memorable start to his operational journey with his first callout on Christmas Day. Full of enthusiasm and a real love of the outdoors, Barney is building a strong partnership with John as they work together to help find missing and vulnerable people across Wales.

How You Can HelpEvery donation helps train handlers, equip dogs, and maintain the capability that keeps SARDA operational 24/7. From grass roots training of young puppies through to operational deployment, your contribution makes a tangible difference.
