de Novo Solutions is proud to announce that our Chief Executive, Mark Sweeny, has been named Tech Leader of the Year at the Wales Technology Awards 2025.

The award was presented on 26 November at ICC Wales in Newport, marking the finale of the 10th anniversary of Wales Tech Week. The awards celebrate the leaders and organisations shaping the future of Welsh technology, and this recognition reflects the impact Mark has made as both a founder and a genuinely people-first leader.

If you’ve worked with Mark, you’ll know this moment was years in the making – because he shows up every day: backing his team, rolling up his sleeves and building something that matters.

Why Mark Won the Award

This award wasn’t just about growth – it was about how that growth was achieved. The Judges recognised Mark for:

  • A people-first leadership style that builds trust, performance and loyalty
  • An uncompromising focus on delivery excellence and real-world outcomes
  • A long-term commitment to developing future talent through apprenticeships and graduate programmes
  • The ability to scale a business without losing its values or culture

In just four years, Mark has led de Novo from a Welsh start-up to an international technology business, while maintaining industry-leading staff retention and long-term client relationships. This is leadership that’s visible, accountable and grounded in our values.

A Champion for Wales

Although originally from Bexleyheath, South East London, Wales has shaped Mark’s life and career. It’s where he built de Novo, where he’s based his family with the support of his wife, Natalie, and where he has become a strong advocate for Welsh entrepreneurs and technology.

In his acceptance remarks, Mark said:

“Wales has been incredibly good to me. This country has allowed me to build something I’m proud of. So I’ll keep championing Wales, its people and especially its entrepreneurs – because we turn up and we build, no matter what.”

What This Means for de Novo

This award represents far more than personal recognition; for de Novo Solutions, it means:

Credibility – reinforcing our position as one of Wales’ most trusted technology partners
Validation – confirming that our people-first, customer-first model delivers results
Momentum – giving us greater confidence to invest in our people, innovation and growth

It also reflects the standard we hold ourselves to every day: delivering solutions that work, building relationships that last, and creating careers people are proud of. He champions ambition, accountability and opportunity – whether someone is working in Wales, across the UK or in Chennai, India.

“We don’t always get it right, but we never stop trying,” Mark said.
“We’re obsessed with delivery excellence because our customers deserve it – and they trust us to get it right.”

Looking Ahead

As we move into 2026, we remain focused on what we do best:

  • Expanding our AI and automation capabilities
  • Growing our Oracle Cloud and ServiceNow practices
  • Investing in apprenticeships, graduates and career development
  • Strengthening long-term partnerships with our clients

But more than anything, we’re proud of our people — the team behind it all.
